Have you ever encountered a frog just going about your daily life in the city? I just finished a night of bowling with my co-workers. I get into my car and its pretty dark outside. I’m driving along for a couple of seconds when I realize there’s this thing on my windshield… at first I thought it was a cockroach. However, when I looked closer I realized it was a frog! What?! I parked underneath a very large tree with branches overhanging the road. I assume it fell from the tree? I couldn’t just wipe it off my windshield with my wipers so I drove with the frog on my windshield… until it jumped off and probably committed suicide. I must say I was mesmerized with this frog while driving… safety hazard! I really hope I didn’t kill the frog.
This morning on the way back from yoga a tiny lizard darted in front of me. Creatures down here are definitely a lot more exotic than in Colorado. Frogs, lizards, alligators, cockroaches, termites, fuzzy caterpillars. I guess exotic is a relative term though… I’ve been practicing yoga for about three weeks now and it’s much more difficult than I anticipated. Today I learned how to do a half-handstand. It actually requires more energy than a regular handstand. According to my teacher, yoga inversions are important because it allows gravity to reverse our circulation. This provides our brain with more oxygen and improves the movement of the lymphatic system. Makes sense to me.
The picture above was taken at the New Orleans Zydeco Festival last week. The music was alright but not really my style. Two-stepping was all the rage. Festival season is now over in NOLA. How sad! I have attended the Greek, Oyster, Tomato, and Zydeco festivals since I’ve been down here – that’s one every weekend! I guess there’ll be many more weekend adventures I’ll have to conjure up during my last two months here. Swamp tour? Plantation tour? MORE VOLLEYBALL! Last Wednesday was my first volleyball game at Coconut Beach. We won! Bam! I’ve also heard that there’s a volleyball group that plays every Saturday in Mid-City. I’ll definitely check them out one of these Saturdays.
