Orange Peach Banana Smoothie

For part of my lunch today I had a delicious orange peach banana smoothie. I never make smoothies but I had a super ripe banana lying around – perfect for smoothie making! I had one peach left and only a few ounces of orange juice left so I blended it all together and created this:

Now if you’ve never made your own smoothie GO DO IT NOW! A fresh smoothie with fresh ingredients tastes infinitely better than anything you buy from a store. No extra sugar or random sweeteners. All natural! I will definitely be making more smoothies this summer. If you have any delicious smoothie recipes let me know! Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 peach
  • 3 oz. orange juice
  • 5 ice cubes

Last night I did Insanity Cardio Recovery which was relatively easy. Holding a squat or a lunge for a long time BURNS like crazy though. I’ve never had my quads or calves burn so intensely. But since it didn’t give me that much of a sweat (hence the “recovery” part of the name) I decided to go on a night run. Ran about a 10min mile pace for 5 miles which was really easy. Didn’t want to burn myself out on a recovery day! If you haven’t been on a night run I highly suggest it for a couple of reasons. First of all, the wind usually isn’t blowing as strongly since the sun is not up. If you want a scientific explanation of why the wind blows harder when the sun is up… go google it. But anyway, the wind isn’t as strong and secondly you really can’t see anything in detail so your mind can wander off without disruption. I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn’t realize how long I ran. It’s brilliant.

I also ran without music or a watch last night which was the first time… in a long time. But it was so much more relaxing since I was not worried about how fast I was going. Usually I run to music to make myself not think about running but I guess my brain has adjusted to that. Surprisingly, I didn’t think about running too much last night even without my music. Perhaps it was because I was going slower than usual? It was definitely one of my more enjoyable runs since I was able to run outside!! Hooray! Since Colorado’s weather has cooled down lately the temperature at night is perfect for running. Success!

Well… off to do today’s Insanity session. PURE CARDIO. LET’S GO! I’m a little scared for this session to be honest… no breaks. Ah!
